Kind Space offers several services for free or sliding scale to community members.

  • This project focuses on developing peer-led programs and services within settlement agencies and LGBTQ+ organizations to provide affirming support for refugees and refugee claimants.

  • The oldest of its kind in Canada, Kind Space is fiercely proud to house this “more than fabulous” resource centre. Our library was named in 2002 in honour of Dr. Kelly McGinnis, an active member of the Ottawa-Carleton HIV Primary Care Group, and renowned in the queer community for his help during the AIDS crisis in the 1980s and early 1990s. You can learn more about Dr. McGinnis here.

    Dr. McGinnis had a steadfast commitment to the queer community and to Kind Space (formerly Pink Triangle Services). For that, we will always honour him.

  • This is a free clothing program available to community members and can be accessed during drop-in and program hours. All clothes displayed in the clothing closets have been cleaned by Kind Space.

  • Kind Space offers several meeting rooms which can accommodate small or large groups of people for varying types of events or activities. 

    Rentals are offered at an affordable fee for one-time or recurring events.

  • The Pantry is a supplemental food bank and snack bar aimed towards countering food insecurity in the 2SLGBTQIA+ Community.

    The pantry accepts physical donations of non and semi-perishable items that can be kept in a pantry.

  • The Trans ID Clinic returns in October 2025 to March 2026.

  • Undercuts is a haircut program, partnered with Rose & Rebel Salon, to provide free haircuts to community members twice a month. It is a registered program with drop-in appointments available occasionally. Follow us on Instagram to find out when Undercuts will be happening again!

    About stylist, Ryan Lewis:

    “My name is Ryan and I’ve been a hairstylist for a little over 11 years now. I love to create mullets, shags, vivid colours, basically anything very queer-looking. As much as I love doing hair I have to say my favourite part of my job is getting to work with other queer people and make them feel comfortable and happy in their skin. I’m very excited to start doing volunteer cuts at Kind Space and to meet more people in Ottawa’s queer community! 🖤“
